Sly's Story

Biography

Sylvester “Sly” Williams is a former NFL player, Super Bowl champion, entrepreneur, and investor. Sly has dedicated his post NFL career to inspiring others to live like a champion through his motivational speaking and 5 pillars of championship life philosophy. Although, Sly has mastered winning at life, his road to success was not a walk in the park.

Sly grew up in St. Louis, Missouri with parents who struggled with drug addiction. In Sly’s adolescent years, his mother was in-and-out of rehab, leaving his father to raise their three children alone. Sylvester Sr. was a stand-up guy and his children was his number one priority; and although, Sly’s father taught him valuable lessons that aided him through life, he still had many struggles and obstacles to overcome on his journey to greatness. From getting into to physical altercations, being held back in the first grade, to kicked out of the 8th and 10th grade, and recommended to receive his GED—Sly’s championship mentality never left him.

In the eleventh grade, Sly decided to reenroll in school and earn his high school diploma. After high school he got a job working in a radiator factory making $400 a week. It was not long after he started the job that he realized factory work was not the life for him. Williams packed his bags and headed to Coffeyville, KS to be a walk-on at Coffeyville Community College football team. Granted Sly didn’t have any real previous football experience, he was given the opportunity to play anyways. Sly spent the next two years dedicating himself to greatness and mastering his craft on the field.

After two seasons of playing at Coffeyville Community College, he earned an athletic scholarship to the University of North Carolina where he received his bachelor’s degree in communications as well as All American Honors and All ACC. Sylvester went on to be drafted by the Denver Broncos in the first round of the 2013 NFL draft. He played in two Super Bowls and won one. However, it has always been Sly’s mission to give back to his community. He hosted and sponsored an annual football camp in his hometown for the youth and donated to local high schools.

After eights seasons in the NFL, Sly decided to throw in the towel and pursue a career as an entrepreneur investing in real estate and the medical industry. During the pandemic Sly, served his community by providing COVID19 test to citizens in underserved communities. Although these were lucrative industries, Sly could not deny his true calling—motivational speaking. In the past during Sly’s NFL career, he had the opportunity to speak at several events and the feedback of the lasting impression he left on his audience was proof that speaking was his true calling.

Today, Sly Williams is one of the top up and coming motivational speakers. His championship mentality and inspirational message is infectious. The energy he brings to his listeners and guidance he provides is testimonial. Sly encourages everyone to live like a champion and start winning at life.
